Job description

As an Engineering Manager Data Domains, you will help our data teams continue their journey toward modern, cloud-native ways of working. You lead teams that build datasets for multiple business domains and ensure their solutions are reliable, scalable and future-proof. At the same time, you strengthen collaboration across domains and ensure data solutions are part of the broader engineering ecosystem. In doing so, you contribute to Jumbo’s ambition to make data a core capability in how we build technology and innovation.

In this role you will guide multiple Data Domain teams as they continue their development toward modern data engineering and cloud-native ways of working. These teams support several business domains in creating structured and harmonized datasets that are used in analytics, applications and data products.

You help teams grow in engineering maturity, collaboration and ways of working, while ensuring existing solutions remain reliable and stable. You promote a way of working where data is developed closer to the business, strengthening the connection between data producers and data consumers.

You support Product Owners in strengthening alignment across domains, ensuring data solutions are not developed in isolation but become part of a broader engineering ecosystem. Together you build data products that are scalable, reusable and well integrated with other technology across Jumbo.

You also play an important role in developing the right team structures, skills and mindset to enable a more federated way of working. This helps reduce the distance between business domains and data solutions, increasing the overall impact of data within the organization.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach Data Domain teams in their development toward modern, cloud-native engineering
  • Strengthen engineering maturity, collaboration and ways of working within the teams
  • Ensure data solutions remain reliable while teams continue to evolve
  • Support Product Owners in strengthening alignment across domains and teams
  • Foster collaboration between data producers and data consumers
  • Build scalable and reusable data products within the broader engineering ecosystem
  • Develop team structures and capabilities that support a federated data way of working
  • Collaborate closely with Data Platform, Data Science and other engineering teams

Your teams are part of the Store Technology, Data & AI domain. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager Data Platform, the Manager Data Science and other Engineering Managers and Product Owners. Together you will continue building a strong data and technology ecosystem at Jumbo

  • Experienced Engineering Manager with line management responsibility for multiple engineering teams.

  • Strong people leader with experience in coaching, hiring, performance management and team development.

  • Responsible for full HR management of teams, including growth, evaluation and development of engineers.

  • Able to combine people leadership with technical direction for teams and platform development.

  • Background as a software or data engineer with understanding of modern engineering teams.

  • Experience with data engineering, data platforms or analytics ecosystems.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern data platform concepts.

  • Experience leading DevOps or product teams within an engineering organization.

  • Experience building scalable data products and datasets used by multiple stakeholders.

  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, ownership and lineage in modern data organizations.

  • Able to effectively connect engineering teams and business domains.

  • Strong communicator who creates alignment between engineering, product and management.

  • We build reliable, well-structured data that helps Jumbo make better decisions and makes our technology, stores and digital channels smarter.

  • You lead Data Domain teams that develop and manage datasets for multiple business domains while continuously improving collaboration, ways of working and engineering maturity.

  • You work closely with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, Data Science and the Data Platform team under the leadership of the Head of Store Technology, Data & AI.
